My new favorite kdrama- Fashion King

For the past couple of days all I've been doing is watching kdrama shows. Hours within my days have been filled with episode after episode. As soon as I come home from work, my eyes are automatically glued to the screen until they practically dry out. If I didn't have to wake up so early in the morning I would probably watch them all night long too.....marathon style!

I just finished episode three of my new favorite show,  Fashion King. Can I just say, I love it! I'm already hooked and can't wait to for more of the upcoming episodes.

And I really want that new Samsung Note phone (shown in episode 2.) When I first saw the commercial for it during the Super Bowl I fell in love. Damn you, Sprint, for never carrying the good "toys" first. Four years later and NOW you finally decide to carry the iPhone?! *sigh*

Oh well. Commercial's over. Back to my other show.............

Treeless Mountain

When I'm not reading, blogging or working then most likely I'm netflixing. I'm so glad I signed up a year ago for it because there are endless amounts of shows and movies all for the price of $17 a month. (It used to be $10 up until 4 months ago, but still worth the extra seven bucks.) I always enjoy watching foreign films (especially Korean films or the ones with any type of martial arts.) So in my "suggested things to watch" box this movie called Treeless Mountain popped up. Have you seen it? If you're a sucker for cute little kids like I am, then you'll love this movie. It's about these two little Korean sisters that get abandoned by their mother. The mother pawn off the girls to relatives and the girls live each day wondering when or if their mom will ever return to get them. Some parts had me all chocked up and teary eyed..... These girls are really good actors for their age, bravo. The youngest one, Bin, is my favorite. She's too cute. I just want to squeeze her cheeks. If you see this film, let me know what you think.

Kdrama- City Hunter

Maybe I would be writing more if I wasn't so fixated on watching City Hunter every breathing moment. At first I didn't think I was going to get into it being that it seemed like a total guy series, but.................it's actually pretty darn good!!! My eyes were glued to the computer screen immediately after 10 minutes into the first episode. I should've known it was going to be great with Lee Min Ho as one of the main stars. *drooling*....and *googly eyes*

I haven't finished the whole series though, but I'm halfway through (ep.10.) I used my last 2 days off just watching episode after episode. I would even catch myself holding my bladder until the end of the show (even though I have a pause button..haha) I refused to leave the couch until I saw all the scenes in one continuous flow. I'm so hooked!! :)) This series is good for guy or girl. Go watch it!!

The story takes place in Seoul, 2011. Lee Yoon Sung is a talented MIT-graduate who works on the international communications team in the Blue House. He plans revenge on five politicians who caused his father's death with his surrogate father Lee Jin Pyo and eventually becomes a "City Hunter."

Secret Garden- My new kdrama obsession

The drama tells the story of Kim Joo Won (Hyun Bin), an arrogant and eccentric CEO who maintains the image of seeming perfection, and Gil Ra Im (Ha Ji Won), a poor and humble stuntwoman whose beauty and body are the object of envy amongst top actresses. Their accidental meeting, when Joo Won mistakes Ra Im for actress Park Chae Rin, marks the beginning of a tense, bickering relationship, through which Joo Won tries to hide a growing attraction to Ra Im that both confuses and disturbs him. To complicate matters further, a strange sequence of events results in them swapping bodies.

I just started watching this kdrama series today and I am loving it!! I forgot all about the dirty laudry piled up in my room and invested my time on the show.......5 hours/episodes of my time well spent. :D Hyun Bin isn't as cute like how I remembered him in Samsoon and I don't like how sunken in his face looks. The guy with the long hair is pretty hot..lol. (Stunt woman's friend) Overall it's worth getting hooked on. ^-^

What would your oma do?

Lately with school starting I've been so busy/lazy and not wanting to do anything. I walked out on my algebra class yesterday and didn't look back. (I winded up dropping it) The 3 hr class was once a week early in the morning (8:30am is still considered early for me, ok?), teacher did not lecture well, loudly, or clearly and most of all??? He reaked of old cigarettes!!! The fan that was placed right next to his desk kept blowing his smell all over the classroom!! It was the first day and we were going over the syllabus and as 40 minutes passed by I quickly snuck out like a ninja! (It helped that I sat in the last row as well) Our homework assignment was 130 problems each week!! No calculator!!! We actually had to show our work on all those darn problems!! Is he crazy???? I have 3 other intense classes to worry about plus full time work! I will p-a-s-s!

I should have known not to put more on my plate than what I can handle. Plus, I saw his ratings on this cool website called ratemyprofessors.com and they were not that grand. Oh well, lesson learnt......

So.....the other day before class started I wanted to do something productive (besides studying) and finally watched the Korean movie, "Mother." I just so happened to see it at Blockbuster the night before and was surprised to see a Korean film mixed in with Top New Releases. "Hmmm....this should be interesting", I thought to myself. This film must be good if Blockbuster found it worth while to sell/rent it amongst their other top American movies.

The director, Joon-ho Bong, is the same person who did "My Girlfriend's a Secret Agent" (another good Korean movie I liked.) So, Mother is basically about a mother (of course) that desperately searches for the killer that framed her (handicapped) son for their horrific murder.

I have to admit I was expecting a tad more suspense and action but I quickly remembered that this wasn't a blood gushing, detail showing American film. Hahaha. Well....speaking of details, there is this one part that caught me off guard.....like really off guard (and you'll know what I mean when you see it. :D )

The beginning was a little slow but after 30-40 minutes it starting getting interesting. All in all the movie was good and the ending was great. It totally got me saying, "What?? Really??...Oh...I get it." Just watch it for yourself! I give it 4 out of 5 stars!!

My Favorite Korean drama series....

Drama, drama, drama!! Koreans love it and so do I! ^_^ Whats even better is that there are sooo many drama series I didn't know where to start!

It seemed like just yesturday that I got hooked on the famous Korean drama shows. I remember being at work (being bored) and my boss/owner was watching a Korean drama on her laptop. (I worked for a privately owned Korean business for 3 years-that'll be another post one day) She was laughing, giggling, sighing, sniffling and many more of the kdrama side effects. Curious, I asked her what she was watching. She answered with "Oh, a Korean drama series. It's really good! Do you watch Korean drama shows,Michelle?" (knowing that I was half Korean myself)"Umm....no. I don't really watch TV." (because I was always at work for HER 6 days a week 11 hrs a day T_T. When would I have time to watch TV? Good thing for Tivo) "Well, you should really try watching them. Once you see one episode you're hooked! A really good series I would recommend for you is 'My Lovely Sam-Soon.' I know that will get your attention," my boss said.

Later that night, I took her advice. Curious to know if a series could really mess with my emotions like that I looked for the series online. Luckily I found it and began my Kdrama adventure.

Wow! Right away I was stuck! The whole vibe of the kdrama was totally different then American shows I was used to. The music was cute, the setting was colorful and orginal, the characters were stylish and beautiful, and my most favorite part...........the cute faces the Korean actors would make. Everything about it was fresh and different. I stayed up watching like 3 or 4 episodes in a row. (that's 3-4 hrs straight glued to the TV) I even got Anthony hooked on it! Thankfully the series had English subtitles as well. I learned some new Korean phrases along with some other interesting words..haha.

Night after night at work I would frantically count down the hours until my shift ended all to be with my beloved Sam-Soon. ^_^ I would even sacrifice my morning workouts just to sleep in after a long night of kdrma watching. It wasn't long until I developed a little infatuation for the leading male character- Hyun Jin-heon. *twinkles in my eyes* Wow.......*drool* Are all actors this cute? If so, I was determined to move to Korea to find me a man like that...hahaha! OK-Ok. Unrealistic thinking, I know, but who cares when they're sooooo dreamy?? Right? A girl can dream...we do all our lives...hahaha!! (not that they necessarily come true though)

So, I didn't take me long until I finished the whole series. After it was finished I was hooked and needed my next "hit." I started to panic and ran back to my boss asking her for "more." haha. "Awww....I finished Sam-Soon and it was great!! Is there another series like that that you could recommend?" I asked her. She replied with, "You finished it already?? Hahaha, I knew you would like Korean dramas. No matter what age you are everybody loves them. Yes, I liked 'Coffee Prince.' I prefer that one better." Cha-Ching!!! My next target! Coffee Prince, here I come!!!

Around that time it was close to our dating anniversary. Being that I am a gifted girl when it comes to presents I had no worries on what to get Anthony. To my surprise he wasn't worried either! That was a shocker to me bacause anytime before any occasion weither it be Christmas, Valentine's or even my birthday he always has to stress that fact that I'm difficult to shop for. I kind of get upset when he says this because being that we've been together for years he should know me and my taste. So, as the time got closer he not once mentioned, "Oh, I hope you're going to like your gift??" or "Man, I don't know what to get you??" Nope, none of these questions came up. Tick-tock-tick-tock. Our anniversary day finally came....and when i got off work...this is what was waiting for me..... Yep!! That's right!!! The same cute lil pig from Sam-Soon!!! All the way from Korea too! ^-^ I was sooo happy and excited!!

Anway, moving along....Coffee Prince! Aahh, yes. This, in my opinion, was better that Sam-Soon. The story line was so funnier and cute. The drama is pretty much about a girl that looks like a boy and gets hired at a coffee shop. Her boss thinks the whole time that he hired a boy and...the story continues from that.... ^-^

And last but not least of my favorite lovey dovey kdrma series is Boys Before Flowers. *aahhh, F4!!!...j/k* I just finished this series recently and it took me awhile being that my work was demanding so much of my time. I think I found my drma king for now...Goo Joon Pyo. Yes, he triumphs all of the main male stars in my eyes. *dreamy eyes* I love his weird curly hair and his good jaw structure. His temper is cute yet serious and I like his demanding side. haha. I have a little weakness for mean bad boys, don't we all? :P

Is it just me or did Ginger, Sunny and Miranda look like the least Korean-looking actors on the show? Giner especially, I thought was atleast half American. Something about her face, maybe the eyes screamed "too much surgery!" It is unfortunate about Sunny's suicide death in real life though. :(

My next adventure in kdrma land is Cinderella's Sister. I found it on mysoju.com and so far it's not bad. (I'm only on episode 6) According to my mom, it gets waaaayy better. That's a relief because the love triangle is kinda boring right now...*snooze* Goo Hyo Sun is so pretty though! I thought she was actaully younger in real life. In the beginning she plays a highschooler (but she looks like 15/16 yrs old!) Then she grows up and still looks stunning with her baby face. In reality she's 24 (my age) and I couldn't be more jealous of her skin and facial features. Out of the hundreds of Korean women that have under went eyelid surgery, hers was definitely a great invesment. She has an "exotic" korean look to her....with the big eyes, good cheek bones and nice plumpy lips. *jealous* If I could look full blooded Korean she would be my pick! :)
