Got some bangs

I wanted something new, but didn't want to commit to shorter locks. Instead, I cut me some bangs. Simple as that.

*You might of already noticed the "new do" on the post below.

Long Locks

My hair has grown out significantly since the summer of 2010.  I've managed to keep the promise to myself and not cut it until it covered my shoulders. The monthly trimes in the past have now been replaced with vitamins and lots of leave in conditioners. So far so good. Let's see how long this will go.

Aussie Love

I've been using these two sprays almost everyday and loving them! I usually tend to avoid using my Aussie products on a daily basis because the coconut/pina colada smell really gets to me. Even though the last spray I got and their 3 Minute Miracle Deeeeep Conditioner  worked really well for me I just couldn't stand that tropical smell. It was just too much. (This may not bother most people, but I don't like pina coladas or anything coconuty smelling to begin with. Bleh.)

I saw that these two sprays were new to the line and decided to give them a try (after I did a quick sniff spray in the air to make sure they didn't use their "signature" smell.) Luckily, it was a new scent and actually quite pleasant.  Not only did they tone down the smell, but the products don't flake later throughout the day or leave my hair heavy and oily (like some other's I've tried.)

I use the Anti-Breakage Spray all over my hair right when I'm through washing it or when I'm in the process of styling it. It doesn't replace the use of mousse or hairspray, but makes your hair strands a little stronger and helps detangle knots. I have little baby hairs around my forehead as well so I make sure to get these before I put my hair in a tight bun or pony tail. The Heat Protecting spray works really good for days that I straighten or do loose spiral waves to my hair. It adds a really nice natural shine to it and holds the style pretty well. Some days when wearing my hair down I quickly spray the heat protectant as a coating before I step out of the house. Our sun rays here are super strong so I try to avoid any further heat damage to this already prone-to-dryness hair.

If you have a drugstore in your area that carries Aussie products I highly recommend trying these out and let me know what you think. And how do you like the signature Aussie scent? Do you find it overpowering like me or do you enjoy the fresh coconut smell throughout your hair?

Fantastic Finds

Ulta was having a 'buy 2 get 1 free' sale for their Butter nail polishes. I know, I know.....$14 for one nail polish is quite expensive if you ask me. But I figured it would be equivalent to me purchasing 3 regular priced OPI's. Plus, the Butter London polishes are formaldehyde-free so there's no strong nail polish odor to it (not that it bothers me to begin with.) I got more colors to add to my fall collection  - "Toff, All Hail the Queen," and "Yummy Mummy."

So, I always mention how I love wearing my hair in a bun. It's just easier (and less damaging) for me and everyone loves it. I get more compliments on my lazy hair bun days then when I actually take the time to straighten it out. *hmpf* When I started my new office job I wanted my bun to have a somewhat professional look to it so I purchased this bun spongy-thingy. It's really handy and helps for those that want that perfect cleaner look. You can find it at Claire's (or Icing's) for under $4. Too bad they were out of black so I had to settle for this nude color. My hair's pretty long and thick though so it covers the sponge pretty well. Great find!!

Even though I already came across some blazers......I'm always on the lookout for more. Oh, and I'm currently on the search for some nice faux pearl pieces as well. Forever 21 was of course my number one spot. They always have everything I'm looking for. And if they don't then I skip over to H&M.

The key covers weren't necessary but since it was right there on the counter as I was paying out I couldn't resist. Too cute, right? Look at these cute beanies that Charlotte Russe had. I normally pass by Charlotte but....something "anime-ish" caught my eye so I had to see what it was. Although I didn't purchase one of these cute beanies, I did buy a pair of the socks (in the background.)

Summer has passed and my thirst level has gone down...drastically. I still like to force myself to drink about 8 glasses of water a day, but it gets hard when I'm not even thirsty. I found these liquid water enhancers aka flavored water droplets and they are so good! I got the sweet ice tea one (at your local drugstore for under $5) and it has made water drinking tasty. I only use 1 drop for 8-16 ounces and the flavor is still pretty strong and exactly how it's labeled- as sweet tea. YUM!

Back to the roots

I was trying to go the au natural look by growing out my roots. It's been 7 months since I dyed my hair and I was so proud of myself for not damaging the do. I didn't think it looked this bad until a friend pointed it out.

"As much as you're trying to look nicely groomed and professional for your new job......your hair isn't showing it."

"Really? Is it that bad? I thought it nicely blended in...." *taking photo in her mirror*..........*reviewing the results*........."Okay....you're right. It's time to dye the mane!"

So here I am buying a dark chestnut brown, but I made sure it had no ammonia. I don't really need anymore damage......Plus, a nice warm tone is perfect for the up coming winter season. :)

I'll be showing the after photos shortly........because I'm also due for a little snip snip. It's been a year since I had a haircut.... :/

That hair itch.....

It's about that time. The time where I get the itch to cut my hair short.......again.

You see, I always go through this phase and it's around this exact 1 year mark.

I get my hair styled short, then get tired of it, grow it out, get tired of waiting, and then cut it again for something different.

HA! I know my repetitive hair phase self so much. When will I ever be satisfied?

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that my hair is damaged. All these years of dying, straightening, hot ironing it, and using the wrong products have taken a toll on my poor locks. It's lost it's bounce and I've been trying to revive something that's been dead a long time ago.

The hair can really define someone and their overall look. I sometimes feel like I don't look put together when I'm wearing my dry frizzy curls. It can lead me to feel insecure or self conscious with my general appearance.  At work I try to maintain a professional appearance, but I always get stumped when it comes down to actually doing a hair style. I feel like leaving my hair down and curly looks a bit too casual, and straightened out looks too....well, dry.  My solution- just wear it in a bun. This look though gets boring when worn everyday and doesn't motivate me to experiment with other styles due to laziness and inconvenience.

Even sometimes when I have good straighten-out hair days it looks "healthy," but it only appears to look that way after a lot of product is sprayed and gunked on to. Then I feel like my hair is dirty, oily, and clogged.

I'm so proud of myself for standing my ground and laying of the hair dyes and flat iron (for 3 months now.) My natural hair color is coming through and looking nice, healthy and shiny. It doesn't look all that great though considering it's intertwined with my damaged brittle hair.... I'm strongly considering cutting the current do and turning it into something fresh and new. Yes.....a change is called for.

Short Cuts

Every now and then I get tempted to cut my hair short.........Seeing these pictures don't help either. :)
