My most beautiful photos of Kenting

Taken during my trip in May 2010

Kenting National Park (墾丁國家公園) is probably one of the most beautiful national parks in the world. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating here, but one thing is sure, Kenting it's definitely one of the most beautiful national parks in Taiwan, formerly known as Ilha Formosa. It's located at the very southern part of the island, ending at the southern tip, where the ocean and the sky disappear in infinity. This park is truly one of Taiwan's natural gems.

My girlfriend and I decided to visit the park in May 2010. I've already written about our trip to Kenting in a very personal way. Here however I'm sharing some of my best high-definition photos. I will additionally write about the Eluanbi Park and Kenting town in separate posts. This is just what we saw between Hengchun's South bay (恆春鎮南灣), where we stayed and the Eluanbi Park (鵝鑾鼻公園), Taiwan's most southern park. See the map above for the most famous parts in the area. This is what we saw that day in Kenting:

South bay 南灣 (Nanwan) and the road to the south.

The beach in South bay 南灣 (Nanwan).

We see these tractors in Slovenia a lot, but mostly on the countryside, never on the beach. Ah, Taiwan.

The water and the pebbles in the South bay 南灣 (Nanwan).

South bay 南灣 (Nanwan) again.

Kenting town (墾丁大街), called Kenting street in Chinese. This is Taiwan's most southern village.

Colorful houses are common near the main road. They're apartments for tourists to rent.

The famous Sail rock 船帆石 (Chuanfanshi) was besieged with Western tourists.

A Taiwanese couple taking photos near the Sand island 砂島 (Shadao). Common in Taiwan.

Tourists from Mainland China. They like to climb everywhere and are always in groups.

The well protected Sand island 砂島 (Shadao) is breathtakingly beautiful.

Sand island 砂島 (Shadao) again. The emerald color is divine.

A trail in the Eluanbi park (鵝鑾鼻公園) goes between tropical trees and interesting rocks.

The famous Kissing rocks.

The view from the Sea pavilion.

This is the view in the direction of the Philippines.

The clear blue water along the fringing reef coastline.

The famous Eluanbi lighthouse (鵝鑾鼻燈塔).

The view from the lighthouse is breathtaking. And it was very hot that day, I'm sure you can feel it.

Kenting and the whole Hengchun peninsula is one of Taiwan's most beautiful parts. I'm sure I will return there for holidays, because it's really a place where I can relax, enjoy the beach, the sun and great food. But there's so much to explore, especially when it comes to nature. I hope I can see more of these natural wonders, go deeper in the area and especially spend more time there. We only stayed 2 days, I think for a great holiday you need at least one week. But time for holidays in Taiwan is scarce. But if there's a will, there's a way. I hope you enjoyed my photos.
