Ediya Coffee- Patbingsu

I'm not a big coffee drinker, therefore, I don't really care for coffee shops. Maybe it's because all I know there seems to be here in the states is Starbucks, but I haven't really come across a coffee that screams "absolutely delicious!" Although, when I am in the rare mood for coffee, my Maxim sticks usually do the trick.


In Korea, however, there's so many different coffee shops it's hard to choose were to start. Even though I have yet to try Tom N Toms (as many of my friends recommend,) I came across Ediya Coffee. Still, didn't walk in for the coffee, BUT I heard they had some yummy patbingsu. Yes! If you must know, this is my favorite korean dessert and I swear, I wake up in the middle of the night craving it like a mad pregnant woman.


Who wants a banana split when you can have this. Talk about the works, this dessert has everything! There's many variations of it, but the base foundation consist of ice shavings, ice cream, sweet red beans, fruit, rice cake, and sweetened condensed milk. The best, when I come across one that's served with corn flakes. Heaven in mouth.

And just as I thought this cafe couldn't get any cuter, their toilet seat proved me wrong.

Coffee Break

I'm not really a coffee type of person (unless we're talking about the Maxim instant coffee of course.) Growing up as a kid I always heard/saw that coffee was the "drug" to get any adult up and ready for their day. Ever since then I promised myself that I wouldn't be one of those that relied on that coffee jolt to jump start my body or to use that as an excuse for unexcused grumpiness. Just getting 8 hours of sleep and eating a good breakfast always did the trick for me.

In Korea, it's a different story. Not that I needed the coffee, but I actually enjoyed it there. There are so many coffee shops that it's hard not to stop and pick one up. Plus, there they have other coffee chains that exist beyond Starbucks, thank goodness, so the coffee is actually good.

I noticed that all the cafes we've been to so far serve brown sugar on the table instead of white. If the brown sugar isn't to your liking or sweet enough there's also the option of sugar water or raw sugar rocks. I stuck to a cube of brown sugar and it seemed to do the trick. Does it make a difference in the coffee you ask? I think so. It gives it more of a heavier and sweeter taste. Yum.

Out and About

Starbucks Cup Everywhere

I go into work.....and all I see is the Starbucks logo everywhere! Apparently Starbucks got in a new shipment of their plastic cold cups and all my coworkers happened to get the memo. I see at least 6 of these scattered throughout my work place. Is it that amazing these cups? I can't bring myself to purchase a $12 plastic cup when they sell the same thing elsewhere for like 5 bucks. Well, turns out that if you purchase one of these, Starbucks charges you like 75 cents for a refill as oppose to the $3 regular drink price. Ok, I can see how this would come in handy in the long run. It's beneficial for all the Starbucks addicts out there (and for my coworkers that feen for it every waking moment...haha)

Oh! And as I'm going into work I decide to put my lunch in the fridge. As I open it up, guess what I see??-----

 Look who decided to claim their food? Is she worried that somebody might snack on it ......or worse.......and just take it?? hahaha....hmmnmm...I wonder why??

My lunch today was delicious! :) Turkey sandwhich on wheat bread with avocado, sprouts, and cucumbers. It hit the spot.

Hello Kitty Cafe

This is definitely on my priority list when I go to Seoul. Tell me this doesn't look cute? The coffee seems like it would taste that much better with that type of cute ambiance around.
