These songs have been on my mind for months and I've been replaying them over and over again. When I'm driving in the car, working out, or cleaning the house I play the same playlist like no other. Every now and then I'll ween one off and let a new song squeeze in, but for the most part the songs have pretty much stayed the same.
My top, top, top fav. right now is Itaewon Freedom. *Do the JYP dance.* I mean, how cooler can this song/video get?? I'm loving the outfits, theme, and choreography. Nice touch, guys! ;)
Then while I was in Korea I discovered Canadian singer, Shayne. I love his soft mellow voice. I just want to pinch his cheeks. :P
It's about time Miss A came out with another hit song. This time I actually like it (unlike Good Girl Bad Girl) and added it to my play list. The catchy beat is right up my alley along with the matching choreography.
In the last week or so I've been trying to brush on my kpop. With working, eating sushi, slugging around the gym, and always doing window shopping I've been a little "busy."
Usually when I'm watching/listening to my kpop songs/videos I don't really pay attention to who's singing what or what group is performing where. If the tune grabs me in I'm stuck and catching myself hitting the repeat button.
2NE1 has been ringing in my ear lately and I've grown really fond of them. After their feature appearance on "Lollipop" with Big Bang I knew these girls had a little kick to them.
I was getting somewhat tired of these cookie-cutter girl groups and was waiting for something else out there to give me a "pop" effect. Not only are these girls sassy with an edge, their eye-catching style is enough to keep anybody interested in their videos.
I love the fact that Minzy and CL are a little 'thicker" than your average singers too with nice curves that add to their appeal. :) Because who likes twiggy legs, right? Plus, Minzy knows how to show off those great dance moves.
I can't wait to catch up on their reality show! *squeal*
For a year now I've been wanting to get my phone decoden out. Before my Galaxy S phone I owned a Blackberry. I knew once I would come back from my summer trip to France I would be upgrading my phone. I waited a couple months after I got the Epic to get familiar with it and work out the kinks. Now that I've had it for awhile and it doesn't have the "new" feel, I'm ready to get it blinged out.
When I went to California a couple years ago, I knew that getting phone cases dazzled with rhinestones were the new "it" thing. I didn't really care to get it done then because I wasn't really into social networking, apps, games, etc..... so therefore my phone just satyed plain and rinky dinky.
Now that my cellphone is practically attached to my hip I need it to look good. :P I mean, it looks nice and sleek now.........but I want it to look like THIS GOOD------------------------>
What do you think? Know of any recommended sites that could do this good of a job? I need a new do for my baby. ^_^
Oh! And what do you think of the Rania- Dr Feel good video?? Maybe a little risque for the common kpop video look? Hmmmm........I don't know. I don't think I'm feeling it.
This song has been out since last year, but I had never seen the music video up until lastnight. Anthony pointed out the fact that it was Korean themed so you know I HAD to check it out. :D
I like it. It's cute and innocent. No naked women bouncing around, guns flashing everywhere, bling bling shining each direction. Simple, colorful and eye catching. It can even teach you some new Korean words... :P
You can't really go wrong with Black Eyed Peas and Nicki Minaj. I love her fresh style. She comes out with something different and finally some originality that mainstream music has needed for awhile......
I haven't been on top of my kpop game lately. Unfortunately I don't get extra credit for watching it in my Korean class, so that leads me to studying....*cough* .....sometimes. But these are the recent ones I have seen and enjoy----
2NE1- It Hurts
I LOVE the makeup and the backdrop designs. I like the gothic doll look too.
2NE1- Can't Nobody
I just want to be their friends. They always make it look so fun to be in the videos all dressed up..... :( So sassy....go girls!
SHINee- Lucifer
Their choreographer should maybe think of dance moves that don't seem so uh, feminine? Just a side note.
miss A- Breathe
The choreography is great in this video and the colors are bright!! I love eye popping colors!
While the members of JYJ started performing together in 2003 in the Korean boy band TVXQ (who released four successful albums in Korea and four in Japan), the new album title The Beginning is apt here, since JYJ is a rebirth for them--and not just because they're finally launching their careers in America. It took a long and arduous journey for JYJ to reach this point. Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu, while still in TVXQ, had to sue their record label, SM Entertainment, in order to get out of what was basically a ludicrously unfair 13-year "slave" contract. Despite having sold millions of units and breaking world records in Asia, until they successfully extricated themselves from SM Entertainment, Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu were literally broke. But things are looking up for JYJ now. A recent issue of Billboard with JYJ on the cover sold out in 24 hours, for instance, and their record label actually had to halt all pre-orders for the limited luxury edition of The Beginning due to too much demand. And obviously, JYJ's Western-friendly R&B sound has already earned them some very high-profile U.S. supporters.
"I'm really glad to work with JYJ on their debut album," says Jerkins. "It's all about the East meeting the West these days, and the world is becoming a melting pot of various cultures. To have Kanye and myself champion the cause of unifying the world through the international language of music and introducing top artists from one end of the globe to this end in America makes this a very special project to us." And JYJ add: "It was a great new experience that we are really privileged to have. We felt the pressure of working with such superstars initially, but our anxieties were allayed when Kanye/Rodney showed us great support. We were able to have a really good time working with them and exchanging ideas about music with one another." Prepare to witness JYJ set a whole bunch of other Guinness records in the near future.
This is my first time hearing about them! Maybe I'm a little late on the kpop wagon? But I'm glad they made it to the American mainstream music! Yeah......Kpop is getting more recognition! *claps hands*
While the majority of America is relaxing and having a good ol' bbq gathering with friends and family, Anthony and I have the pleasure of working all weekend long!!! I really shouldn't complain though because these hours are crossing over to overtime. Yeeaahh. I never realized how many people get the pleasure of getting wasted......in front of their kids... L_L Hahaha. It's funny how you realize growing up how parents really remain child-like at heart. I think it's just something about staying young and clinging on to those innocent times that keeps us in that state of mind. Although I'm not "full grown" yet I have come to the conclusion that adults in reality have the maturity level of a 21-25 yr old all their lives. Some of them just hide it better than others. ^_^ The only thing that changes is their appearance..... unfortunately some don't age as well as others...sorry.
Moving on....... This weekend is going by somewhat fast but somewhat of a drag too. I discovered this new song while driving to work and I got hooked!! You see, I'm not usually the one to care for mainstream music so listening to the radio is r-a-r-e. This song though, I can tell won't play me out! I love any type of dance beat and theme. I went home and youtubed this new artist and I loved what I saw!!!! ..........
Yep!! That's right!! Korean artists making it up in the mainstream music world!! Hip hip horray!! Don't you love the beginning? Proudly representing Ktown and Korean bbq!!!
This is my "it" song for the summer and I'll be playing it all weekend long!!!
P.S. I'm working on a new blog layout because i noticed that this one cuts off like half of the pics and videos!! *boo* Here;s the full screen youtube clip for the song-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4s6H4ku6ZY
I love the lil head swirly dance move..hehe. This is my favorite boyband song at the moment....
SHINee / Ring Ding Dong
The dance move is catchy. The guy that dances in the front though needs to gain a little bit more weight! His legs are skinny!! It doesn't help that he's wearing skinny jeans. lol. What's up with the clip 1:24 into the song? Looks...a little...uhh....gay? Is he rubbing his friends cheek?? hhhmm.....They're all still baby-face cute though....hahaha. I'm lovin their cheek bones. They all have nice facial structures.
2pm / Again and Again
Even though this song was "last year" I'm still loving it!! The ending was a kinda off ....but ok....
IU / Marshmallow
How freakin' cute is this video???? So innocent and playful!! I want that marshmallow icon!!!
and last, but not least------------------My absolute favorite song!!!!!------------
Ivy / Touch Me
I was sooo shocked when I saw this video. It wasn't the "normal, cute" kpop video I was used to. For a minute there I thought I was watching Lady Gaga..lol. I bet they don't play this video during the day. It must be categorized for the "after hour" channel. Hahaha. I love it, though!!!!!
Korean music is so innocent and cute!! I love the music, but I love the videos and performances more! If these were done in the states people would laugh at the artists. In America it's all about sexuality....sex appeal....sex.....and more sex! Kids are always looking up to the artists and trying to imitate them and their life style. No wonder they're growing up so fast!
Korean music keeps an innocent appeal so all of the songs are mostly kid friendly. These are my favorite songs that I bump in that car to work.....hehehe-----------
Compare the difference--------
American video
Dan Balan / Chica Bomb
I love this type of dance music....but see how sexual our videos are?? This would get any young boy wanting to lay a girl!! lol
Now compare it to a Korea video........lol...innocent.....and cute! ^_^
T-ara / Bo Peep
T-ara / Like the first time
This is my favorite song out of all of them, but too bad the video is kinda boring..lol. Not enough dancing....
Eun Ji Won / Siren
I like this video, it's kinda "americanized" and I like is voice....hehe
2pm / Heartbeat
The guys in 2pm are cute! And I love how this video has the meanings in english..hehe
J.Y. Park / No love No more
I just don't like how he keeps those little rhinestones on is face whenever he performs. He looks kinda exotic for a Korean...kinda like he's americanized..what do you think? I love his dance moves though!
Tae Yang / Wedding Dress
Awww...sad! You can tell that Tae is from the states though (I believe L.A.) His english is perfect in the beginning)
Part 2 of this post is still to be continued.........
