App Lover

The blogging world has endless amounts and varieties of "personalities." Some days on my day off all I do is hop from one blog to another. My list is getting longer every month and at times it takes me hours to catch up with everybody's current post. This is where my smart phone comes in handy.

The android market has endless amounts of apps available to help make our lives easier and a lot more convenient. I remember the first week I got my new smart phone I was downloading games left and right. Now I think I have more apps than phone numbers floating around. Being that I love reading blogs everyday Pulse has become my absolute favorite app of all time.It comes in handy when I’m waiting in line or waiting for an oil change. I can just catch up on my daily reads without having to wait until I get home to boost up my laptop. The only downside-you can't leave comments. But that's no biggie.

Here are my other top favorite apps that I use on a daily basis-
  1. Screen Filter- This has helped preserve my battery life by a lot!  This screen filter dimes the background lighting to your liking (I have mine at 78%) therefore extending the battery life.
  2. Open Advanced Task Killer- This was a step 2 on helping my battery last longer as well. I didn’t know that certain programs or games stayed active even if you closed it out. With this I can “kill” the running apps and make sure they close for good until I reopen it again.
  3. Kakao Talk- If you have friends and family in other countries like I do, this will really come in handy. Unlike standard text messages where you can only text within certain areas/within the US, I can text people in other countries for free. Just make sure both parties have the app and you’re good to go. Plus, the emoticons are so cute.
  4. Facebook- Of course this should be self explanatory
  5. My Days- This is my portable menstrual tracking calendar. Really handy next time you go to the doctor and they ask when’s your last cycle date.
  6. Words with Friends- Remember the game Scrabble? Well, now you can play it all day long with your friends. I’m so addicted to this! I have like 12 games going on.
  7. SushiBar- I dream and breath sushi so it only be appropriate for me to get a game about it too. Here you play as the sushi chef and quickly prepare food orders in a certain amount of time. Can you master the pressure?
  8. Appreciate- This app helps you find other apps that other people find interesting, fun, or useful. This is how I came across a lot of mine as well.
  9. Diversion- A cute little 2-d world were you play as a character collecting gems and costumes. Good enough to keep me busy in a boring doctor’s office.
  10. Weatherbug- Yes, I like to check the weather everyday.

Do you have a favorite game or app that you just love? Maybe one that helps smooth out your day? Do share!

Lock it

Losing your phone probably has to be one of thee worst things.Luckily for me, it hasn't happened......yet. *knocking on wood* Yesterday I was frantically texting my friend and wondering why I wasn't getting a response.

"Hello?? What are you doing??"

"Are you there?"

"I know you're out of school.....call me!"

"Okay....not to seem psycho....but......text back!"

No answers........

Five hours go by.

*Work phone ringing* "Hello?" I answer

"Michelle!! It's me. I lost my phone!!!"

"What???? Where??"

"I think while I was in class. That was the last time I saw it. I'm so mad!"

"Oh my gosh! Are you sure? Maybe it's in your car or something?"

"No, because right when I was leaving class to check my messages that's when I noticed it missing."

"Well, good thing you have your lock app on it."

"Uh.....yeah. About that. I actually took it off last night. Figures, with my luck."

"You took off your phone lock!! Why would you do that??

"I don't know. It was just a pain unlocking everything just to check my email and facebook. Of course, I'm regretting it now. But I have the gps locator so I'll call the police once I locate it. I feel so violated."

*sigh* "Wow....I don't know what to say. Call your carrier and have them shut your phone off so that way who ever has it can't rack up your phone bill."

"Yeah........but I want my phone back!!"

I couldn't imagine that feeling of losing my phone....actually, I take that back. I can. I would die! I have too much personal information on my phone. I'm automatically signed in to my bank account, my facebook, my blog, my gmail....and my juicy text messages. :P

Her text messages!! Just thinking about it I check our conversations just to see what the thief had the pleasure of reading on my friend's phone.....

Yeah, it's pretty juicy. :/ It has conversations of where we work, people we can't stand, our plots (haha), my new job I applied for, which boss we hate, pictured of me in the changing room asking her for her opinions on bathing suits, my face!!, plans for lunch meet ups..........just too much for a stranger to know. :( I feel violated too! HA.

Now this person not only knows who this phone belongs to, but where she works, what she looks like, people she works with, family member's information, and personal account access. Talk about total exposure.... :(Moral of the story- Download a phonelock app......and lock everything up like a chastity belt. ;)

Good note- my coworker brought in sushi for lunch. YUM!

"Decoden" phones

For a year now I've been wanting to get my phone decoden out. Before my Galaxy S phone I owned a Blackberry. I knew once I would come back from my summer trip to France I would be upgrading my phone. I waited a couple months after I got the Epic to get familiar with it and work out the kinks. Now that I've had it for awhile and it doesn't have the "new" feel, I'm ready to get it blinged out.

When I went to California a couple years ago, I knew that getting phone cases dazzled with rhinestones were the new "it" thing. I didn't really care to get it done then because I wasn't really into social networking, apps, games, etc..... so therefore my phone just satyed plain and rinky dinky.

Now that my cellphone is practically attached to my hip I need it to look good. :P I mean, it looks nice and sleek now.........but I want it to look like THIS GOOD------------------------>

What do you think? Know of any recommended sites that could do this good of a job? I need a new do for my baby. ^_^

Oh! And what do you think of the Rania- Dr Feel good video?? Maybe a little risque for the common kpop video look? Hmmmm........I don't know. I don't think I'm feeling it.

My phone is the best!!!

A while back I posted that I was getting the HTC Evo. While I waited patiently for this phone the stupid waiting list was freakin' long and it seemed like forever until they were going to have a full stock. Mind you, this phone came out in June this year and there's STILL a wait for it in the city I live in. Why??? Why doesn't the manufacturer know that if there's heavy advertising into your product then make more for high demand???? I called Sprint every other week (the time they claimed their shipment was due to arrive) and I kept getting the same answer,"We only got 3 in for our shipment and the next order in will be in 2 weeks. Call back then." And so forth in the waiting cycle of Michelle.

Well, not anymore!!! It was like destiny for me to wait because Sprint came out with a better version of the Evo (in my opinion) and it has a keyboard!!! When Anthony got the Evo he bragged constantly on how cool and high tech it was.....but I was a little comprehensive due to the fact that I can't text as fast with a touch screen.I guess I was a little relieved every time Sprint turned me down with a hope of an excuse to hold on to my BB a little longer.... I really didn't want to give up my blackberry for a huge touch screen gadget.

Boy, am I glad I held out. My Samsung Epic is the best!!! The screen is cleared and the mega pixel on the camera is a lot better than the BB curve.

This phone is literally my portable laptop! It's great!!! It makes a great hot-spot and even has a video chat. Clarity is great and the phone is yet sleek and compact!

Cheers to Sprint and their slow shipment!!

Back to reality......

So, I've been back from my vacation in France......and I must say I'm pretty bummed. It was nice spending quality time with my mom, her husband, and my sister and brothers. The month practically flew by!!!

Now I'm back in the desert and back to reality. The heat wave was anticipating my arrival back and my skin was not ready to get even more tan! (x_x) I miss the weather in Europe. The breeze was always there and the rain was always visiting every 2 days or so. (Just light sprinkles though. That's what I like.)

My plane ride back wasn't AS bad as the trip there, but it was still pretty darn long and exhausting. (13 hrs)

I wanted to buy some magazines before I hopped on the plane to occupy my time. As I darted in the bookstore heading straight to the magazine section I quickly restrained myself. TEN EUROS for a Cosmo magazine??????? No way!!! Talk about robbery. That's equal to like 13 U.S. dollars!! I wasn't in that desperate need of entertainment. Although I wished I would have slipped myself a heavy-duty sleeping pill. (-_-)

The view was just beautiful when we were taking off. It was sad saying good-bye to the nice green land. I definitely miss the trees, grass, and water. :(

Luckily they had some Sky Magazine to keep me busy for about an hour or so. It was nice skimming through it because it was all high-end designers that I could only look at through the pages as oppose to really having something like that one day...haha. A girl can drool every now and then.

In Tennessee they had these little condensation misters. That was the first time I've ever seen or heard of those! Pretty neat though!

I've been pretty lazy as soon as I got back home. The heat has really been taking a toll on me and making me sleepy. Hahaha. It doesn't help that we FINALLY got pulled over for our limo tint on the car. Anthony had to take off the 2 front window tints in order to not get a fine. (Which he winded up having to pay the court $100 anyways!!) Now we're driving around town fish-bowling it and exposing our arms to the rays of death!! *Agghhh!*

School's about to start next month and I haven't even picked out my classes. I'm still deciding on whether to take Korean language class or save the gas and use my Rosetta stone program that I've had for a year now (that's collecting dust.) (>_<)

Work's been busy as well. We have these Korean interns coming this week to work and it's their first visit to the states. I'm pretty sure it'll be a culture shock for them. (especially moral wise..ahahaha....) And guess who has the honor of involuntarily translating everything upon their arrival??......*drum roll.*................................ANTHONY! Yes, they will abuse my poor boo's gift of being bilingual and make him do all the translating for work and legal purposes. It gets exhausting when there's 7-8 of them!! But work is too cheap to hire a real translator. Times are tough I guess. They should at least offer him free dinner somewhere.....or a gas card. But no, they won't.

I still need to reorganize the bedroom for our computer desk. I'm still looking for a good laptop. Any suggestions? Anthony's leaning towards a Toshiba. Me, I really don't are as long as there's internet. Lol.

Speaking of internet, I'm actually using the internet using my phone as a hot-spot. Yes, we finally upgraded our blackberries for the new HTC Evo! Let me just say, that phone is great!! We are actually saving money with our hi-speed bill by $20-$30. We can shut off the hot-spot anytime as well. So, if we ever leave town for a couple days/weeks we can just call our phone company's customer care and have them shut it off saving $1 each day it's not used.

I'm possibly looking to have my phone "deco-den" style, but we'll see. I'm scared I'll screw it up!!

Well, now that 4th of July week is over with I should be on the ball with more blog posts....Everything will feel more complete once i get my computer desk and laptop!! :D

Korean Cell Phones

I remember 9 years ago when I went to Korea I was so shocked to find that everybody had a cellphone!! I mean everybody!! Business men, wives, students, even ajimas had cell phones!! Back then I was just 14 and I thought it was cool to have my high tech pager that showed the temperature outside. Boy was I wrong.... One thing I admire Korea for is their advancement in technology. After my visit in 2001 I told myself I was living there one day.....and today I still follow this dream....(after I get my teaching degree......which isn't coming any slower!!!!)

Check out these phones I found that were out more than 5 years ago in Korea!! T_T

Now this was my phone in 2003/2004-

Yeah, I know it doesn't look that bad, which it wasn't. I loved my phone back then...but if i would've known what my cousins had in Korea then I surely would be oozing with envy.

While on the topic of cool cell phones this is going to be my lil baby in 1 month *drum roll*................................................................................................................................................

.......................................................................................................................................................

........................................................................................................................................................

........................................................................................................................................................

THE HTC EVO by SPRINT. Yep, this will be yet the coolest phone I've ever had. (besides the blackberry curve that's now played out) I know what you're thinking. "It looks like a wannabe Iphone." Well, yeah. Kinda, it is. It's not really a "wannabe" but more like the competitor. Wal-mart has it's K-mart, Pizza Hut has it's Domino's, Dillard's has it's Macy's and then Iphone has it's Evo. Yes, the time has come where the iphone must sweat bricks too. I admit I once drooled over the iphone but there was no way in hell I was going to switch over to the AT&T service (also once known as Cingular) Hearing from friends how the service reception was horrible and the high monthly payment plans I decided to stay loyal to my Sprint service. (going on 6+ years)
What makes this phone so great and worth getting you ask? Well, these were my selling points-
-I can do video calling and chat
-wi-fi enabled
-first android phone with 4g technology
-bigger screen size (than the iphone) to better watch movies/clips
-it can read adobe flash (which my blackberry couldn't)
-2 cameras (yes! finally 1 in the front so i can see my face when i take my camera phone shots..haha)
-8.0 megapixel camera
-it looks cool
-and I only pay $199 for it!!! ^-^
I can't wait for August (when I can renew my contract!) Please come sooner!! Just in time for school just in case I need a little test "helper." hahahaha
