Holiday Window Shopping

I started my pre-holiday shopping. I spent most of the time eye balling stuff and making mental notes to myself. I found this safer than actually trying to attempt waiting in those long weekend lines. I totally forgot Vera Wang had her department store brand at Kohl's. I only realized that because I had one of those free $10 store credit they always send out in the mail and it gave me and excuse to check it out. Then afterwards I realized it, I don't like Kohl's......at all. Blah.

During the year I skip shopping at Bath and Body works. Their products and signature scents  pretty much stay the same so I know there's nothing new. Now there's an exception though- the holiday season. This is the only time of year I step foot in here to find all their new limited holiday products. My favorite are the foamy hand soap pumps. I couldn't resist the candy cranberry scent or the warm cookie. Starting to smell a lot like Christmas.

Where do I start? Ahh, yes- "Dear Santa............."

Steve Madden is always a win in my eyes (and on my feet.)

Mmmm. On a chilly night like this one, nothing hits the spot better than a big ol bowl of pho (and of course my boba drink on the side).

Saw this in the parking lot. Too funny.  I also get a lot of compliments on my kitten heels. Does this shirt look a little familiar?

This isn't my typical average breakfast. The banana's mine while my coworker was so thoughtful and bought me a frappuccino with an orange on the side. Win! The pastries are from this local bakery I stop in from time to time do order their delicious sandwhiches.

Who would have thought that Fry's grocery store made some really good sushi? They have actual Japanese sushi chefs right there making it fresh for you while boxing it up. Now that's what I call wonderfully fresh. There's nothing worse like buying pre-made sushi and all the rice is soggy and clumped up. Thanks, Steph, for the valuable info!

It's nice seeing all the stores decorated in Christmas spirit. Living in Arizona it's easy to forget that we don't actually have a real winter season per say. There's hardly any snow where I live and the temperatures don't seem to drop and lower than 60 degrees . Yet, retail stores and business establishments still jazz up their stores/buildings to make it feel like a real holiday season. There's still the scarves that come out with the cute boots that are saved all year just to wear at this time.

The only thing that put a big frown on this face was hearing about how certain major corporate chains are pushing back Black Friday even earlier!! This is crazy, people. Thanksgiving day AND night needs to be spent with family and friends eating and enjoying each other's company. Not worrying about going to bed early that day to make your midnight shift for crazy folks that choose to get trampled go shopping instead of staying home and celebrating the really meaning behind this holiday- to appreciate and give thanks. Remember? Just how we learned in school, children. This sign really got me heated. I feel for whoever has to work Black Friday.  I really do. Till this day, I've never wasted my time on that made up shopping "holiday". It's just not fair and goes to show how even more greedy we're getting/becoming. Let's just be thankful for something, someone and for once, huh?

Avec nos compliments

Remember my birthday dinner I had a while ago? To help make that night even more memorable the restaurant staff had given me a gift certificate for a future dinner.

I would have used it up by now but that restaurant is almost 30 minutes away from my house. Too far to drive when you're hungry.....and grumpy. Luckily, it's around Karina's neck of the woods and we made it a date night.

The sushi was just as good as I had remembered and of course, I had to get the flaming spicy salmon roll again. Is it just me or does food always taste good when it's a.) someone else's and b.) free.

Our fortune cookie was surprisingly dead on for that month. Karina's couldn't be any more right with the gift she (and my coworkers) had gotten me recently. Mine was somewhat a standard fortune, but the timing was perfect in this situation. Good job, fortune cookie!

P.S. Does anyone else have trouble with blogger's pictures uploading sideways sometimes? (and without being able to rotate them?) Hmm..... This must be fixed (or I need to learn the trick into fixing it.)

Lock it

Losing your phone probably has to be one of thee worst things.Luckily for me, it hasn't happened......yet. *knocking on wood* Yesterday I was frantically texting my friend and wondering why I wasn't getting a response.

"Hello?? What are you doing??"

"Are you there?"

"I know you're out of school.....call me!"

"Okay....not to seem psycho....but......text back!"

No answers........

Five hours go by.

*Work phone ringing* "Hello?" I answer

"Michelle!! It's me. I lost my phone!!!"

"What???? Where??"

"I think while I was in class. That was the last time I saw it. I'm so mad!"

"Oh my gosh! Are you sure? Maybe it's in your car or something?"

"No, because right when I was leaving class to check my messages that's when I noticed it missing."

"Well, good thing you have your lock app on it."

"Uh.....yeah. About that. I actually took it off last night. Figures, with my luck."

"You took off your phone lock!! Why would you do that??

"I don't know. It was just a pain unlocking everything just to check my email and facebook. Of course, I'm regretting it now. But I have the gps locator so I'll call the police once I locate it. I feel so violated."

*sigh* "Wow....I don't know what to say. Call your carrier and have them shut your phone off so that way who ever has it can't rack up your phone bill."

"Yeah........but I want my phone back!!"

I couldn't imagine that feeling of losing my phone....actually, I take that back. I can. I would die! I have too much personal information on my phone. I'm automatically signed in to my bank account, my facebook, my blog, my gmail....and my juicy text messages. :P

Her text messages!! Just thinking about it I check our conversations just to see what the thief had the pleasure of reading on my friend's phone.....

Yeah, it's pretty juicy. :/ It has conversations of where we work, people we can't stand, our plots (haha), my new job I applied for, which boss we hate, pictured of me in the changing room asking her for her opinions on bathing suits, my face!!, plans for lunch meet ups..........just too much for a stranger to know. :( I feel violated too! HA.

Now this person not only knows who this phone belongs to, but where she works, what she looks like, people she works with, family member's information, and personal account access. Talk about total exposure.... :(Moral of the story- Download a phonelock app......and lock everything up like a chastity belt. ;)

Good note- my coworker brought in sushi for lunch. YUM!

Hotness

This 103 degree weather is killing me! In a couple more years I don't even think the state of Arizona will be able to withhold proper living conditions. In the peak summer months such as these I wish I could just pack up and move (but then I would be here in a heart beat once the winter came along.)

Lately I've been in the comfy clothes stage. I really don't care to dress up much because, well, it's too darn hot. Just walking up in the morning wears out my energy. :P

I admire fashion blogs and the girls that dress up look pretty and dollish. Man, I tried just getting ready for a dinner date with friends and I already had to catch myself before I fainted of heat exhaustion. There's no way I have the energy to do multiple poses, smile, pose some more, go up some stairs for a good background, and still look put together. Plus, the sun will make sure to have my face running in 2.0 seconds.

Instead of posing in front of pictures I just like to take the pictures......that are usually taken indoors.....with blasting cold a/c. :)

My Birthday

This post is waaay over due but better late then never, right?

Well, wow. Another year has passed me by and another year added to my age. I still can't believe I'm in my twenties when at times I act like a 19 year old. While my friends are off getting married and popping babies I'm still doing the same thing I've been doing the last 5 years- working. Well, now I can add school too, but it's mainly work.....and more work. Gosh, I need to do more with my life.

Looking back these last couple of years I haven't really accomplished much. When I catch up with friends they laugh at how much hasn't really changed. When my mom calls there isn't anything new to the edition of Michelle's life. I guess that could be a bad or good thing. I take it as good most of the time. At least I don't have some crazy partying life where I'm not sure who I woke up to, right? We'll keep it predictable and routine for now.

Starting this year I vowed to start doing more productive things through out the week. I want to take up yoga classes, maybe get another part time job, or  just even volunteer to find more meaning in my day. I mean, sure, I have a good job and a comfortable lifestyle, but that's all it sums up to. I don't have any skills, play any sports, or participate in any clubs.Luckily I started this blog last year and found this to be quite a hobby. I'm surprised I've kept it up for this long. While I don't have thousands of followers I do have the right amount of loyal readers. :) That I must say thank you to and express my deepest appreciation. I get emails from people asking me questions, commenting about the blog, or just wanting to say hi and that always puts a smile on my face. Thank you, my lovely readers!! **Muah!*

While I feel like my life has no exciting plot at the moment, a lot sure has changed since I hit my twenties. I've slowly become a woman that I would have somewhat never expected. I've taken in the pleasure of wine tasting, became a food junkie, started caring about food quality, going to the gym 5 days a week, actually pursuing a degree (that I also have interest in), and moving somewhat far away from family.

I love the woman I've slowly molded into and I thank everyone in my life for having somewhat of an influence to that. Even with burnt bridges and broken friendships it's added to my character and helped me find other paths and better and more meaningful relationships.

For my bday my friends and I got together for some sushi (my favorite!) I mean, what else would it be? Haha. After dinner, the night followed up with some money chasing at the casino and dancing into the night at the downtown nightclub. We all had a good time.

**Noticed how my bra keeps peeking through when it's picture time?? *ggrrr* And why did I wear gray? Black would have been more suitable.Oh well.** :P
