Happy Halloween!

What did everyone dress up as? (if at all) As for me, I was nothing special. I'll be posting pictures of my halloween weekend soon. I was good this year I wasn't tempted to buy candy at all.....for myself. As I'm strolling through the store aisles it's hard to pass up $2 big bags of twix and kit kats. *must be strong, must be strong.* Now that tomorrow marks a new month it's even worse because that $2 just got dropped to 50 cents a bag! Aghh, I'll try to keep myself preoccupied by stopping for some sushi! Yeah......... Oh. I just started watching Cake Boss on my netflix and let me tell you, I'm so hooked. That show has so many beautiful and inspiring designs that I've already got ideas for my wedding that's not even due to come yet.

Sweater Love

I love how comfortable over sized sweaters feel. If I could thats what I would wear all fall/winter season long. Sometimes though I have to switch it up because then people start to suspect that I'm hiding a baby bump or something. Ha. I ordered the first 3 sweaters on Yesstyle. I swear, I spend hours on that site....geez. So many things to look at and their models are so pretty and make the clothes so much better. They're having a korean fashion sale until October 31st. Not that I got a steal deal but between 10-20% wasn't bad either. These were too cute to pass up.

The real KFC- Korean Fried Chicken

Anthony and I love fried chicken....like LOVE it! I know it's bad drenched in all that oil and  breaded all up....blah blah blah....but who cares? Not I. Not when it comes to this.

It must run in the family because Anthony's cousin was craving fried chicken as well. When she came to visit a couple years back she would always want Church's fried chicken with loiusina hot sauce drenched in top of it. Haha.

So, she asks us to go and pick some up for dinner.

We go to this "place" (it's not even a restaurant....or a to-go spot.....or even an actual store) and it's tucked away in some alley looking street.

I walk in and I'm thinking to myself, "Ummm, where's the kitchen? The restaurant? A cashier?"

This........ was ......IT! We had arrived at "the place."

Let me tell you. If this place was in the states, it would've been reamed by the health inspectors (especially with some stray cat just hanging around in the open cook area.) Luckily for us, we weren't.

I know what you're probably thinking looking at the pictures...."Ewww....it looks so gross and dirty! People actually by their friend chicken??" The answer is- YES!

After a couple minutes of soaking my surroundings all in I felt relaxed and confident in the "cook." The ajima there was so sweet and so happy that some foreigners had discovered her delicious fried chicken spot. This place raises their own chickens (along with cooking them)and sells their eggs as well. Pretty nifty, eh.

We watched as she chopped up the chicken, seasoned and battered it, then threw it in the oil pot.

It came out golden brown.....just perfect! Within 20 minutes we had dinner all ready to go and nicely packed in our cute to-go box too. We paid the ajima $20 for 2 full boxes and made our way home. We decided to take the bus (instead of a taxi) and all you could smell was the savory fried chicken throughout the air. People were looking over at us wondering what we had mysteriously packed in that box.

So delicious, I tell you!! Man, the chicken tasted so good and juicy. When it comes to hole-in-the-wall food spots, I never judge the book by it's cover, that's for sure.

Steve Madden 2011

While I was shopping around the mall yesterday I couldn't help but to notice all the new designs Steve Madden came out with. They were always one of my favorite shoe brands, but are they getting better! All these are on my "want" list as of right now. I could do without 2 or 3 of them, but the rest I've got to have. A little tip I'll share- Whenever I see a shoe I like at the department stores I check DSW first. Most (not all) of the time they'll have the shoe I'm looking for for 30-40% cheaper. Same case goes for the Madden's. I found 5 out of these 9 online line for way less. Guess what that means?- I'm off to the store tomorrow!

turquoise fever

I would have never thought the day would come where turquoise would have a place in my jewelry box. Living here in the southwest desert I see this gem everywhere. Gift shops, local artisan stores, and even gas stations carry this bright blue stone so finding turquoise jewelery was never a problem. I think I just got used to it and never really took the time to admire it and the uniqueness each one possesses. I got these earrings, bracelet, and hammered silver ring at a gem show last year. I'm in love with these pieces and try to find any excuse to wear them with my daily outfits.

Snack time

These little snack cakes are filled with cream and chocolate. Yum.....These helped me get through my afternoons when I was in the after lunch-going towards dinner phase. One thing I noticed about korean snacks/pastries is that they're not as rich as here in the states. There isn't thick fudge or major frosting coating everything. There's just enough sweetness to make it good though.

Fantastic Finds

Ulta was having a 'buy 2 get 1 free' sale for their Butter nail polishes. I know, I know.....$14 for one nail polish is quite expensive if you ask me. But I figured it would be equivalent to me purchasing 3 regular priced OPI's. Plus, the Butter London polishes are formaldehyde-free so there's no strong nail polish odor to it (not that it bothers me to begin with.) I got more colors to add to my fall collection  - "Toff, All Hail the Queen," and "Yummy Mummy."

So, I always mention how I love wearing my hair in a bun. It's just easier (and less damaging) for me and everyone loves it. I get more compliments on my lazy hair bun days then when I actually take the time to straighten it out. *hmpf* When I started my new office job I wanted my bun to have a somewhat professional look to it so I purchased this bun spongy-thingy. It's really handy and helps for those that want that perfect cleaner look. You can find it at Claire's (or Icing's) for under $4. Too bad they were out of black so I had to settle for this nude color. My hair's pretty long and thick though so it covers the sponge pretty well. Great find!!

Even though I already came across some blazers......I'm always on the lookout for more. Oh, and I'm currently on the search for some nice faux pearl pieces as well. Forever 21 was of course my number one spot. They always have everything I'm looking for. And if they don't then I skip over to H&M.

The key covers weren't necessary but since it was right there on the counter as I was paying out I couldn't resist. Too cute, right? Look at these cute beanies that Charlotte Russe had. I normally pass by Charlotte but....something "anime-ish" caught my eye so I had to see what it was. Although I didn't purchase one of these cute beanies, I did buy a pair of the socks (in the background.)

Summer has passed and my thirst level has gone down...drastically. I still like to force myself to drink about 8 glasses of water a day, but it gets hard when I'm not even thirsty. I found these liquid water enhancers aka flavored water droplets and they are so good! I got the sweet ice tea one (at your local drugstore for under $5) and it has made water drinking tasty. I only use 1 drop for 8-16 ounces and the flavor is still pretty strong and exactly how it's labeled- as sweet tea. YUM!

Game nerd

Okay. So I have a little confession/secret to share with you. Even in my twenties I'm still a video game nerd. Ever since my dad introduced me to the Sega game console more than 15 years ago I've been in love with video games. Growing up I just got better and better at them and got into more challenging game stories. It wasn't until I was in middle school and the Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released. I was in video game heaven! My Nintendo 64 got played everyday for hours straight....sometimes to the point where the system would overheat and I would have to turn it off for a couple of hours to let it rest. I've since then fallen in love with the Zelda franchises. Whatever game console I had I made sure I got the Zelda game available for it. It's been a while since anything decent came out for the Wii..........but next month my game obsession can be resurrected. I have my order in for the Zelda Skyward Sword. :) *nerd* Can't wait. Anyone else crazy for video games..or is it just me?? hahaha.
