How I store my rice

Along with my new year's resolution of working out, I have decided to eat smaller portions as well. Don't worry. I'm not talking about downsizing to eeny weeny baby size servings.......more like 1 bowl of rice instead of 3!! Hahaha,ok. I'm exaggerating, it's 2 bowls. Did I mention they're 2 big soup bowls...hahaha!!

Don't you hate when you're starving to death and that kimchi is calling your name?? But you have to eat something else with that kimchi, so you partner it up with kim (seaweed) and spam. Now all you need is the bap (rice.) NOOO!!! You didn't have any leftover rice from dinner last night so now you have to wait 30 long minutes until the rice cooker beeps "ready." The stomach is growling so hard to the point where it hurts to even breathe. Oh yeah, I've had this happen multiple times. But now I've learned to stock up on my rice, by a lot too.

I've been doing this for sometime now (around 4 years) and this method is ingenious to me. Feel free to follow.

Go to the store and buy GLAD Press'n Seal cling wrap. This thing is great!! I wrap my left over rice in this all the time!! I haven't stored rice in anything else (besides plastic containers before but then it wouldn't heat up right and it would get all dry. But that was when I first moved out on my own and I didn't know any better.) Not only is it good for rice, but I store leftover spam, onions, peppers, tomatoes, and meat with this too.

Whenever I make rice I always make extra for the sole purpose of having the leftover to wrap and store for those rainy, starving days.

You can store the rice for a couple days in the fridge or 1-2 months in the freezer. I always keep mine in the freezer though. Whenever I need to make a quick meal I just pop it in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes high (time depends on your microwave.) The rice then comes out steamy and hot! Just like the day it came out the rice cooker. ^_^

And those days where you've ran out of the press'n seal, don't worry. I've used sandwich bags before and those work pretty good as well. Just make sure you open the bag a little to let out the steam. I don't like to microwave the bags for too long though because I'm always afraid they might melt or something.

Then when hungry just nuke it up and serve!!!

I know my dinner tonight didn't look all that good, but it was!! I stir fried left over samgyupsal with kimchi. Then added some sesame oil to my rice and chowed down!

I had samgyupsal 3 times within 30 days!!! I love this stuff! It's my favorite Korean dish. Maybe that's why I gained *ahem* 5 pounds during the holidays.........*blank stare*..........Oh well, it was worth it!! Haha.

**Oh, and if you like the nailpolish in my pics (which I'm in love with) it's Revlon Lilac Pastelle. I've been wearing it for a week now and it's lived up to it's "no chip" promise. :D
