How to have great skin

A great way to start off the new year is with a new look and better yet, radiant skin. The last 3 years I've been getting so many compliments on my skin and how nice it looks it was getting kind of weird. I never really thought anything of this (being that it was always older women giving me the compliments) but I guess elders know best. The day I realized just how much I should appreciate my skin was when I took a trip to Sephora. I was looking around for some foundation and one of the associates offered to help me match my skin tone to the right one. She sat me down and found one that I was really fond of. After my little consultation she turned to me and said, " You know, you have really nice skin. I don't think you need the foundation. You look the same without it." That moment changed my cosmetic life. As I replayed that comment in my head I thought about all the ways I could be clogging my poor pores if I went to buy this $40 foundation. My face wouldn't be as "nice" and appealing as it is now.

I told her that I was just looking for something to give me a matte look on my face (instead of the yucky greasy look because AZ makes you sweat so much.) She found the perfect solution for me and that was the end to my perfect face fairytale.

Looking at my daily skin care routine I could see how it could appear so "perfect" and "smooth." Here I will share my secrets with you, guy or girl. Guys need to keep up their face as well. No girl wants to be snuggling up with the third eye aka puss-pimple staring straight at you.*screams*

Korean women are known for having great looking skin. It looks so perfect and smooth like milk. Hmmm, I wonder if we share the same secrets?? It must be genetics. I can say I must thank my mom for my skin. She's in her early 50's and her skin still looks great!! Could it be all that kimchi too?? *in deep thought*

Here are my secret weapons to nice, better, healthy looking skin-

These are the most important things I feel that have helped improve my skin throughout the years

*fish oil pills
*flaxseed pills
*sunblock-I started using facial sunblock the past year and I love it!! This is my primer instead of foundation. I use at least 25 spf up to 45spf, depending on the day.
*water (I drink at least 5 glasses of it or boricha a day) I don't drink soda or juice at all!! Coffee is spared to 2-3 times a week.
*carrots- I chomp on carrots when I'm bored or driving to work.
*8-9 hours of sleep each night ( I don't care if I have homework or dirty dishes piling up. Sleep comes first in my book!)
*non smoker!!! (a big plus to healthy skin)
* Try to be stress-free as possible. It helps reduce breakouts and unwanted pimples. T_T
* I wash my face everyday twice a day.

AND.........
Here is my simple skincare routine-

(Day)
1. I always rinse my face with cold water after I wake up.
2. Pat dry and applying moisturizing non-oily sunblock.
3. I apply my pressed powder to reduce the appearance of any shine.
4. Then apply my makeup.
(Night)
1. I use makeup wipes to remove any makeup or oil on my face.
2. If I'm wearing heavy eye makeup that day then I use a gentle makeup remover.
3. I then wash my face with warm water and use a face scrub 3 times a week.
4. Pat my face dry.
5. Afterwards I use a toner all over my face and neck.
6. Wait about 10-15 minutes and I apply a night cream over face and neck 2-3 times a week.
7. On nights that I don't use my night cream then I use an acne cream all over my face. Even though I don't have acne it's always better to prevent it before hand. :P

Here are the results-

Ok, ok. I know. My face isn't naturally this "yellow" but I had to brighten up the color because the picture had bad lighting in the room. Don't let the pic fool you completely though. Even though my face may appear smooth and free of pimples, I have another flaw............dare I say?? Ok,.........I do have blackheads. Eww!! I know, right?? Like, who has that?? Thank goodness for biore strips. Hahaha.

And that's all folks!
Remember, drink lots and lots of water! Keeps the skin hydrated.
